About Compress image

Large images slow down websites, fill up email inboxes and get rejected by upload forms. This image compressor reduces the file size of your photos and graphics while keeping them sharp. JPG and WebP images are re-encoded at the quality you choose, and PNG images are optimised with smart colour reduction, the same technique used by popular PNG optimisers, so transparency is preserved.

If a website or application form asks for an image under a certain size, switch to Target size mode and type the limit in KB. The compressor automatically searches for the highest quality that fits under that limit.

Up to 90% smaller

Smart JPEG encoding and PNG colour reduction cut file sizes dramatically with little visible change.

Compress to exact KB

Need an image under 50KB or 100KB? Set a target size and the tool finds the best quality that fits.

Batch and private

Compress dozens of images at once, all inside your browser. Nothing is uploaded.

Frequently asked questions

How do I reduce the size of an image?

Add your image, keep the Recommended quality and press Compress images. Most photos shrink by 60–80% with no visible difference.

How do I compress an image to a specific size in KB?

Choose “Target size”, type the maximum size (for example 100 KB) and press Compress. The tool lowers the quality, and if needed the dimensions, until the image fits.

Does compressing reduce image quality?

Compression removes detail your eyes barely notice. At Recommended quality the difference is very hard to see. Use High quality for photos you plan to print.

Which image formats are supported?

JPG, JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF and BMP. GIF and BMP images are saved as JPG or PNG.

Is there a limit on how many images I can compress?

No. You can compress as many images as you like, completely free.
